How does the structure of a CD\/DVD box influence your design?
\nUnlike designing on a flat plane, designing for a CD\/DVD box would require a 3-D shape. The fact that there's a spine, gutter, and two different sides must be taken into consideration.
\n
\n2. How will it influence your design in a closed position? In an open position?
\nEach side of the design would have to be able to stand separately in the closed position so that it would make sense without relying too much on the other parts of the box. Yet at the same time, if it's opened, all three sides - the front, the back, and the spine - would have to have some kind of obvious connection to each other to indicate a set and avoid confusion.

\n3. What do you think form follows function mean?

How does the structure of a CD\/DVD box influence your design?
\nOne has to take into account the many folds in the cd\/dvd covers and that they have a front and back. One has to pay attention to the gutters when designing a cd\/dvd cover.
\n2. How will it influence your design in a closed position? In an open position?
\nWhen in the closed position, the cover has to make sense and give the audience enough information about the product being shown. In the open position, one can make a design that overflows into the other side or put down additional information.
\n3. What do you think form follows function mean?
\nFirst off, the thing has to be functional before one makes it look nice. If the object isn't functional, then making it look nice is pointless. \nThe size and shape will have to be taken into account. The cover also bends and has a front and a back that I need to be aware of. I have to be careful about the gutters.
\n2. How will it influence your design in a closed position? In an open position?
\nIn a closed position it has to make sense and have enough information to make sense. When it opens it is twice as big, so I could either make a separate design that goes along with the front, or some elements from the front can overflow onto the back.
\n3. What do you think form follows function mean?

\nThe CD\/DVD box influences my design because the box has a spine, back and front, so there needs to be a lot of information on each side of the box, including the inside.
\n
\n2. How will it influence your design in a closed position? In an open position?
\n
\nWith a closed position, the inside won't really matter so you need to supply enough information on each side. With it open, you need to provide new unique designs on the inside.

\n3. What do you think form follows function mean?
\n

\n2. How will it influence your design in a closed position? In an open position?
\nThe more open a position is, the more freedom of design and expression you will be able to do.

\nIn an open design the design fits perfectly because when you open it the design must cover the whole thing. In a closed design maybe only half of the open design is showing.
